Late last month saw me back in Berkshire for Heather and Dave’s Wedding at The Oakley Court Hotel. A gorgeous venue set on the banks of the River Thames just outside of Windsor, it was great to be back for another wedding here.
It was obvious to see from very early on in the day, Heather and Dave have a large group of really, really close friends. It was great to see and made the day so relaxed and a lot of fun. Dave was doing well, although I think the nerves were starting to hit as the time came to go for the pre-wedding interviews. The ceremony all went well though, and Dave managed to avoid missing the start of his own wedding after running off to sort out a problem with the speaker playing the music for Heather to walk down the aisle, which is always a bonus! Olly and Libby did a fantastic job as pageboy and bridesmaid, and they both looked fantastic (much love for Olly’s red converse!)
Once the ceremony was complete we headed outside to make the most of the lovely gardens at Oakley Court. Heather and Dave had arranged for a boat to take people on trips up and down the river so we went for a quick ride early on. It worked well and gave them a moment to take enjoy with each other and the kids before the wedding breakfast. Olly and Libby got to drive the boat as well which obviously went down well. The whole afternoon was a wonderfully relaxed affair, everyone enjoying each others company and it was a pleasure to be a part of.
Soon enough it was time to head in for the wedding breakfast, the room looked great and the wedding cake was amazing – not just because it was made of ice-cream! The speeches were brilliant, stealing Dave’s cardigans was a great touch, it was also the first time I’ve seen toasters, paracetamol and little blue pills in a wedding speech!! Once the speeches were over, the room was turned around and it was time for the dancing to begin. I was particularly glad that Heather called Veto on Dave’s striptease after the jacket came off.
It was a great day, a great wedding and a thoroughly great group of people. As always, here are a few images from the day, please feel free to comment at the end of the page!
