Some days the weather is against you, some days you completely luck out. Driving to meet Clare and Dave last week for their engagement photography in Richmond, as I pulled up by The Terrace Gardens and the first drops of rain started to hit my windscreen, it would seem it was against me. A quick chat with Clare and Dave and we decided to retire to a cafe over the road to grab a coffee and chat through the plans for their wedding at Pembroke Lodge later this year, just as the rain really started to pour. After a catch up and a discussion of timings, locations and all the other bits and pieces, we noticed a break in the clouds and quickly headed out to take advantage of the spring sunshine.
A first for me, we headed into the Terrace Gardens and Terrace Field. It’s one of the things I love about this area, no matter how long I live around here and how much I shoot here, I keep finding these beautiful new locations I never even knew existed! Perched on the steep hill down from Richmond, with a stunning view over the River Thames, it’s an amazing spot. We started with a few shots in Terrace Field and on the walkway along the top, trying to get a hint of the view in the background, before taking a wander down through the gardens themselves. The gardens were looking gorgeous, Clare and Dave were complete naturals in front of the camera and looked fabulous together which all lead to a really fun and easy session. Lots of variety as we descended through the various different areas gave lots of interesting options. Once done, we headed back up to our cars. As I closed my door, the rain rolled back in. So in the end, I completely lucked out!
Below are a few of my favourites from the session, after a fun morning I am really looking forward to their wedding in a couple of months. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Richmond, please get in touch!
