The start of August saw me at the stunning De Veres Horsley Park for Sam and Alex’s Horsley Park Wedding. Despite cycling past the venue regularly on a Sunday morning for the past 7 years, I’d not been in the Horsley Towers before and was instantly blown away as I drove down the long driveway, it was beautiful!
I parked up, grabbed my kit and headed inside looking forward to covering the bridal preps as I was greeted by a chap in shorts and flip flops only to realise it was Alex! That moment actually summed him up for the rest of the day for me – incredibly relaxed and chilled. After a brief chat I headed up to see Sam as she was getting ready. As with Alex, the girls were all cool, calm and collected which made the preps an absolute pleasure. Once ready we headed down the huge staircase and into the ceremony.
Looking a little more nervous now, Alex waited for Sam to enter the room. As she walked down the aisle you could see Alex instantly relax (and even shed a tear!), it was obvious to all what a fantastic couple they make. Keen to get married as quickly as possible Alex tried to shorted the ceremony in his own little way, although the registrars required a little more formality!
After the ceremony everyone headed outside to take advantage of the amazing grounds and perfect summer weather before going into the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast. Great speeches followed the meal, unfortunately for Alex the old saying of ‘What happens on the stag do stays on the stag do’ was ignored, with photographic evidence. I’m sure the sight of her husband in a PVC nuns outfit wont be one Sam will forget for a while! Wanting to keep things slightly unconventional, the bouquet toss saw female guests leaping away from the bouquet – not sure if that was a hint to their significant others or not! It was then in for the first dance and the start of the evening part of the reception.
All in all, it was an absolutely cracking day and an honour to have been asked to document. A selection of my favourite images from the day are below, as always comments are greatly appreciated!
